Biography

Professor CHEN Hongming received his Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry in the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. From 1998 to 2000, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Drug Discovery Centre in Bayer AG (Wuppertal, Germany). In 2001, he joined the R&D Centre of AstraZeneca (Gothenburg, Sweden) and focused his work on computational chemistry and drug discovery for 18 years. He was the Principal Scientist in the Department of Lead Discovery. From 2019 to 2021, He served as a Principal Investigator in the Bioland Laboratory in Guangzhou and established a research team on artificial intelligence and drug design. Professor Chen is now a Principal Investigator in the Guangzhou National Laboratory and the Deputy Director of the Chinese Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery Committee. He was elected in the Guangdong Talents Program and Guangzhou Huangpu Elite Talents Program. Professor Chen’s research mainly focuses on computational chemistry, cheminformatics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has published more than 90 academic papers and patents. Professor Chen is also a member of the Academic Advisory Committee for the journal Molecular Informatics, and a editorial board member for the journal Artificial Intelligence in the Life Sciences.
